Steel and lacquer

Layers is a series of unique and colourful bowls, originally designed for the curated exhibition ‘A tribute to everyday life‘ by danishdesignMAKERS

Every time products are coated with a colour within a lacquering factory, there’s a bit of lacquer left in the spray gun. This leftover lacquer is sprayed onto our spun metal spheres, and colour is build up in many layers over time.

The bowls are sandblasted and sanded to reveal the colourful layers before a final clear lacquer is applied.

“Layers is our interpretation of the hidden stories of everyday objects. We wanted to create a collection based on the colours of industrial manufacturing beyond our control.” – Troels Flensted
