Thermochromic Wall

2014

Thermochromic paint, acrylic paint, UV-blocker & lacquer

Converse set a brief to put colour on grey walls in London as part of their Wall of Clash competition. Rafael El Baz, a fellow Central Saint Martins student, and I proposed a wall of coloured drips that change colour throughout the day. We used thermochromic paint that changes colour depending on heat, which means the wall will look quite different in the afternoon compared to the evening. We won the competition for the innovative interpretation of street art. You can find the Thermochromic Wall in east London, just behind Bethnal Green Station.
