Assembly

2017

Terrazzo

Assembly is a reinterpretation of 19th-century village assemblies, where the participants sat on large stones placed in a circle. The furniture is made of terrazzo to underscore the historical reference to the variegated stones that made up the assembly site.

The chairs form a circle around the table, creating an intimate space for people to meet and get together. The distance between the chairs and the table brings people close enough together to talk, while still leaving room enough for newcomers to sit down in the space between the chairs and thus expand the circle.

This project was designed for the 2017 edition of the Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition. It has been made together with Lotus Concrete and supported by The Danish Arts Foundation.
